Your birth day & month, and the year to read
How it's calculated

The nine-year cycle: Personal Years run 1 → 9 and then begin again. A 1 year plants seeds; a 9 year clears the ground for the next cycle. Knowing where you sit helps you work with the year rather than against it. Your Personal Year shifts on January 1st (some traditions shift it on your birthday — this tool uses the calendar-year convention).

What a Personal Year number tells you

While your Life Path number is fixed for life, your Personal Year number cycles 1 through 9 and resets each year. It sets the theme and emotional weather of the twelve months ahead, helping you work with the year's natural current rather than against it.

To find it, add your birth day and birth month to the year you want to read, then reduce to a single digit. Because the year changes, the result changes — moving you one step along a nine-year cycle. This tool does the arithmetic and shows where you sit in the cycle.

The nine-year cycle

Your Personal Year sits inside the longer story of your Life Path, so read the two together.

Frequently asked questions

How is the Personal Year number calculated?

Add your birth day and birth month to the year you want to read, then reduce the total to a single digit. For 2026 that single digit is your Personal Year for 2026.

When does the Personal Year change — January or my birthday?

Conventions differ. The most common method changes it on 1 January with the calendar year; some numerologists shift it on your birthday. This tool uses the calendar-year method.

What is a Personal Year 1?

A 1 year marks the start of a new nine-year cycle — a time for fresh starts, initiative and planting seeds whose results unfold over the years that follow.

Is a 9 Personal Year bad?

No. A 9 year is about completion and release — finishing projects and letting go of what no longer fits — which clears space for the new cycle that begins the following year.

Does this replace my Life Path number?

No. They answer different questions: the Life Path is your lifelong nature, while the Personal Year is the temporary theme of one specific year.
