Muhurat

The Right Moment

Vedic astrology doesn't just describe what is — it tells you when to act. Muhurat is the applied science of auspicious timing, built from five astronomical streams that run simultaneously through every day.

The Panchangam ("five limbs") is an almanac compiled daily from the positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets. A skilled astrologer reads all five streams together — not one in isolation — to identify windows when cosmic currents support your intentions rather than work against them.

I
Tithi
Lunar day — the angular distance between Sun and Moon, cycling through 30 tithis each month
II
Nakshatra
Lunar mansion — the 27 star-clusters the Moon transits, each with its own quality and deity
III
Vara
Weekday — each day ruled by a planet with specific energies suited to certain activities
IV
Yoga
The 27 yogas formed by adding the longitudes of Sun and Moon — ranging from Vishkambha to Vaidhriti
V
Karana
Half-tithi — the 11 karanas cycling twice per lunar day, each governing shorter time windows

The Hora System

Each hour of every day is ruled by a planet in a fixed sequence. When you schedule an activity during its planetary hour, you align with that planet's natural energy.

The sequence follows the Chaldean order: Saturn → Jupiter → Mars → Sun → Venus → Mercury → Moon, repeating continuously.

Special Tithis & Nakshatras

Lunar days and star-clusters with exceptional significance

🌕 Purnima

Full moon — peak spiritual energy, intensified emotions, favourable for devotional practice and fasting.

⭐ Pushya Nakshatra

The most auspicious nakshatra for new ventures — even overrides most Muhurat restrictions. Saturn-ruled, Cancer-placed.
