Ashlesha is the serpent star — the nakshatra of hypnotic power, deep insight and the coiled energy that can heal or harm. Ruled by Mercury and presided over by the Nagas, it grants a penetrating, almost magnetic understanding of human nature.

Ashlesha — "the embrace, the entwiner" — is the ninth of the twenty-seven nakshatras, spanning Cancer 16°40′–30°. It is ruled by Mercury, which means a Moon placed here opens the life with a Mercury dasha period of 17 years.

02Character and meaning

Ashlesha natives see through people. Perceptive, intuitive and psychologically shrewd, they grasp motives and undercurrents that others miss entirely. This gives them real influence — they can charm, persuade and bind — and a wisdom that runs to the roots of things.
