Swati is the star of the wind — of independence, movement and the flexible strength of a young shoot that bends but does not break. Ruled by Rahu and presided over by Vayu, the wind-god, it prizes freedom, adaptability and self-determination above all.

Swati — "the self-going, the independent" — is the fifteenth of the twenty-seven nakshatras, spanning Libra 6°40′–20°. It is ruled by Rahu, which means a Moon placed here opens the life with a Rahu dasha period of 18 years.

02Character and meaning

Swati natives need room to move. Independent, adaptable and self-reliant, they resist being tied down and flourish when free to find their own way. Like the wind, they go where they will — and like the young plant in the breeze, they have a flexible resilience that survives storms by yielding to them.
