Shatabhisha is the star of the hundred healers — of medicine, mystery and the vast, secret order of things. Ruled by Rahu and presided over by Varuna, the god of cosmic waters and law, it grants healing power, independence and a fascination with the hidden.

Shatabhisha — "the hundred healers, the hundred stars" — is the twenty-fourth of the twenty-seven nakshatras, spanning Aquarius 6°40′–20°. It is ruled by Rahu, which means a Moon placed here opens the life with a Rahu dasha period of 18 years.

02Character and meaning

Shatabhisha natives are healers and solitaries. Often drawn to medicine, science, mysticism or any work with hidden causes, they have a penetrating, investigative mind and a strong need for privacy and independence. There is something of the secret-keeper about them — they hold space others cannot see into.

Varuna, who oversees the cosmic order and the hidden laws beneath appearances, gives Shatabhisha its association with truth, healing and the veiled. Many feel set apart, walking their own path, and find their power in solitude and inquiry. The shadow is isolation, secrecy or a stubborn refusal to let others in.

Shatabhisha's need for privacy can become isolation, secrecy or an inability to accept help. Its lesson is to let its healing flow outward and to allow a few others past the veil it keeps.
