Rohini is the most fertile and beloved of the nakshatras — the Moon's own favourite. Ruled by the Moon and presided over by the creator Brahma, it is the star of growth, beauty, abundance and the irresistible pull of the senses.

Rohini — "the red one, the growing one" — is the fourth of the twenty-seven nakshatras, spanning Taurus 10°–23°20′. It is ruled by Moon, which means a Moon placed here opens the life with a Moon dasha period of 10 years.
